Return to the big screen
Rajshri Productions announced the re-release of the film on their official Instagram page. They posted a collage of two photos featuring the two in the lead roles.
The caption of the post read, “It’s time to relive their ‘pyar bhari dosti’ as #MainePyarKiya re-releases on 23rd August 2024 in select PVRINOX Pictures and Cinepolis India cinemas.”
Bhagyashree, who portrayed Suman in Maine Pyar Kiya, also reposted the same on her Instagram Stories.

Backed by Rajshri Films, Maine Pyar Kiya was a huge box office success and its lead actors became stars overnight. Directed by Sooraj Barjatya, Maine Pyar Kiya is a romantic film. The film also featured Alok Nath, Mohnish Bahl, Reema Lagoo, Rajiv Verma and Ajit Vachani. The film is based on the life of Prem and Suman and their journey from friendship to love.
Bhagyashree made her film debut in 1989 with ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’ opposite Salman Khan. Salman entered Bollywood in 1988 with ‘Biwi Ho To Aisi’, but it was this film that brought him into the limelight. Sooraj introduced Salman as Bollywood’s lover boy in 1989 with ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’, and he again created magic on screen with hits like ‘Hum Aapke Hain Kaun..!’ and ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’.
The film’s soundtrack composed by Raamlaxman became iconic, with songs like Aate Jaate, Mere Rang Mein Rangne Wali and Kabootar Ja Ja becoming evergreen hits. The music played a key role in the film’s success and is remembered even today.
