Police told the court that the knife used in the attack in forensic investigation and pieces of knife recovered from the accused is the same. On the bail plea of the accused, the Bandra police filed their reply in the Bandra court of Mumbai. Police said they have strong evidence. The next hearing on the bail plea is to be held on 1 August.
Police presented arguments
The police said in their reply that the accused is a Bangladeshi citizen, who is living illegally in India. If he gets bail, then it is feared that he runs away from India and does not appear in court during the trial. The police argued that the crime committed by the accused is’ of very serious nature and strong evidence against him is present.
Mohammad Shariful Islam (30), an accused who made a knife attack on his Mumbai residence on Saif Ali Khan, has filed a bail petition. The accused has claimed that the case registered against him is ‘fictional’. Mohammad Shariful is currently lodged in Mumbai’s Arthur Road Jail. The accused has claimed in his bail plea filed through advocate Vipul Dushing that he is innocent and has no criminal record.
The attack took place on the night of 16 January
The incident took place at Saif’s house around 2 pm on January 16, when an unknown person entered his house in Bandra. After this infiltration, the accused had an encounter with Saif. Saif was seriously injured in the attack of the accused and was admitted to Lilavati Hospital.
