Russian President Vladimir Putin has rejected US President Donald Trump’s proposal to host the next round of Russia-Ukraine peace talks in Vatican, despite the earlier interest from Pop Lio XIV. The idea is, floating by the Pope and publicly supported by Trump, now appears away from the table after resistance from the Kremlin.
“Russian did not want to go there,” said Keith Kelog, a special messenger during an appearance on Fox and Friends on Tuesday (27 May). He suggested that Geneva could be a possible option for future interactions.
The peace process in the form of Russia delays reaction to stalls
The timeline is uncertain for a new round of talks. Russia has formally responded to the US -backed peace structure so far, its Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday that it was still “working on its memorandum.”
Trump: “Putin is playing with fire”
Taking the truth socially, Trump warned Putin not to consider his resolve wrong.
Trump posted, “Vladimir Putin does not feel that if it was not for me, a lot of bad things have already happened to Russia, and I mean that it is really bad,” Trump posted. “He is playing with fire!”
Trump’s comment reflects the growing disappointment as stress after Russia’s most aggressive drone attack in his war against Ukraine.
Zelansky: “Moscow playing game”
Ukrainian President Volodimier Zelanski also weighed, in which Moscow was accused of vandalizing diplomacy with intensive violence. Kremlin on Sunday launched its biggest drone and missile strikes to date, allegedly used 335 drones and nine cruise missiles to target Ukrainian cities.
“They are playing the game while our people are suffering,” said Zelancesi.
Trump: “Putin is crazy”
The attack scale inspired a scary response to Trump.
“I have always made a very good relationship with Vladimir Putin of Russia, but something happened to him,” Trump wrote.
“He is absolutely mad! He is unnecessarily killing many people, and I am not just talking about soldiers. Missiles and drones are being shot in Ukraine cities, without any reason.”
Trump proceeded, warning: “If he tries to take everyone in Ukraine … then it will lead to Russia’s collapse.”
Kremlin: Trump is being “emotional”
Kremlin quickly pushed back against Trump’s comment. Spokesperson Dimitri Peskov accepted Trump’s role in starting talks but brushed his latest statements.
Peskov said, “We are really grateful to the Americans and President Trump for helping them in organizing and launching the process of this conversation personally.”
“This is a very important moment, of course, associated with emotional overload of all and with emotional reactions,” he said.
As diplomatic efforts stalls and violence intensifies, the next steps in the peace process are not clear.
