The real fitness icon in Bollywood, Salman Khan turns 60 on 27 December 2025. However, looking at his body and fitness level, he is far from 60. Here is the secret of fitness in his mature age.

Salman Khan remains fit even at the age of 60 by following a strict discipline, a six-day workout schedule and eating simple home-cooked food. He mostly starts his mornings with fasted cardio like walking or running, followed by weight training during the day.

His trainer, Rakesh Uddiyar, says Salman follows old-school bodybuilding methods and prefers HIIT-style huge sets rather than lifting heavy items.

Rakesh has trained Salman for more than 20 years. According to him, the actor does around 10 types of chest exercises one after the other without stopping.

Khan moves from one exercise to the next with almost no rest. Sometimes, he walks for a while and stops for water. This high-intensity, high-volume style helps him maintain muscle while keeping his body lean while shooting.

Salman changes his daily routine according to the needs of his film. He trains aggressively for body shots and has slowed down while recovering from injuries. After working out for 30 to 40 years, he has developed a deep understanding of his limits and listens carefully to his body.

Salman Khan’s diet

Salman Khan starts his day with porridge, eggs and fruits. Lunch is always a simple home-cooked meal, consisting of fish or chicken prepared by his mother. He prefers small amounts of rice and lots of vegetables. He eats salad with every meal. He completely avoids outside food.

When an action scene comes up, he cuts down his portions almost two months before the scheduled date. Once filming ends, he returns to his normal eating habits.

Salman Khan does not follow fancy diet plans. He just follows discipline. His trainers describe him as being particular about food, yet very consistent.

Salman Khan enjoys food, yet keeps his week in check through a planned cheat meal. Yet, the weekly meals never exceed 2000 calories.. Biryani still rules his cheat days, and he happily eats it during birthdays or family moments.

Many actors follow strict diets such as gluten-free, vegan or sugar-free plans. Salman works differently. Salman eats whatever he likes while training with unusual intensity.

His trainer said, “Nobody trains like him. Bring in all the newbies and have them stay in the gym with you for 30 minutes. I doubt anyone would last.”

Salman Khan’s serious illness

Salman Khan maintains a high level of fitness despite suffering from three serious neurological conditions: trigeminal neuralgia, brain aneurysm and arteriovenous malformation (AVM).

Khan had talked about this in The Great Indian Kapil Show in June. He revealed that he had undergone an eight-hour surgery for trigeminal neuralgia in 2011.

Trigeminal neuralgia causes sudden, electric shock-like pain in the face. It is often triggered by simple actions such as touching or chewing. Salman described it as “the worst pain known to man”.

Brain aneurysms and AVMs involve weakened or tangled blood vessels in the brain. Both carry a risk of bleeding or stroke, especially under stress. Salman manages his health with regular monitoring.
