In a new twist to the Bollywood genre, an airhostess has been arrested for allegedly smuggling gold. The case is similar to Kareena Kapoor’s film ‘Crew’, in which the lead actors smuggle gold to earn money.
A DRI source said on Thursday that a woman flight attendant from Muscat to Kannur had smuggled about one kilogram of gold. The accused has been identified as Surabhi Khatun, a native of Kolkata, who had hidden the gold in her rectum.
On May 28, officials of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI-Kannur) intercepted an air hostess arriving from Muscat with 960 grams of gold at the Kannur International airport. PTI informed of.
After interrogation and completion of necessary formalities, she was produced before a judicial magistrate and remanded to Kannur women’s prison for 14 days. The evidence found so far shows that Surabhi has smuggled gold several times before. A detailed investigation has been started into the case.
Sources also claimed that this is the first incident in India where an airline crew member has been caught for smuggling gold by hiding it in his rectum.
Similarly, in the Bollywood drama ‘Crew’ starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, Tabu and Kriti Sanon, three female flight attendants make money by smuggling gold after their airline Kohinoor Airlines goes bankrupt.
The film, which released on March 29 this year, revolves around the lives of three air hostesses who come from different backgrounds but face similar financial problems. The trio face many ups and downs while planning and executing a gold smuggling operation. But they eventually emerge victorious.
The film stars Kriti Sanon as Divya Rana, Tabu as Geeta Sethi and Kareena Kapoor as Jasmine. Diljit Dosanjh plays a customs officer, and Kapil Sharma plays Tabu’s husband Arun Sethi. The film also stars Rajesh Sharma as Prithviraj Mittal and Saswata Chatterjee as Vijay Walia.
Directed by Rajesh Krishnan, The Crew stars Diljit Dosanjh and Kapil Sharma in the lead roles. The film was released on OTT platform Netflix on May 24.
