In fresh trouble for Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Delhi Police on Thursday registered an FIR against him over the scuffle in Parliament after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) filed a complaint.
Accusing Rahul Gandhi of “physical assault and instigation” during the clash in the Parliament complex, the BJP sought to prosecute him under sections of attempt to murder and other charges.
However, the police have not added the section of attempt to murder in the FIR.
“The police have only removed Section 109 (attempt to murder) of the BNS. All other sections are the same as given in the complaint,” Delhi Police said.
Earlier in the day, BJP MPs Pratap Chandra Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput suffered injuries after a face-off clashed at the entrance of Parliament between opposition and NDA MPs over alleged insult to BR Ambedkar.
After the incident, several BJP leaders including Anurag Thakur and Bansuri Swaraj visited Sansad Marg police station and lodged a complaint.
Speaking to reporters outside the police station, Thakur said he was booked under sections 109 (attempt to murder), 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), 117 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt), 125 (act endangering life or personal safety). Demanded a thorough investigation and FIR. Others), 131 (use of criminal force), 351 (criminal intimidation) and 3(5) (common intention) of the BNS in the case.
The Congress strongly rejected the claim, alleging that BJP MPs pushed party chief Mallikarjun Kharge and “physically abused” Rahul Gandhi, leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha.
A delegation of Congress MPs, including Digvijay Singh, Mukul Wasnik, Rajeev Shukla and Pramod Tiwari, personally went to the police station and lodged a complaint, an official said.
Meanwhile, the BJP said that Rahul Gandhi does not deserve to be the leader of the opposition after such “indecent and shameful” conduct.
Addressing a press conference, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said, “Rahul Gandhi is not fit to hold the post of leader of the opposition.” Chouhan criticized the Congress leader’s behavior and alleged that it was against the cultural ethos of India. Is against.
