New Delhi: The war between Russia and Ukraine continues. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is angry with his own people. In fact, Zelensky has sacked Ukrainian Air Force Commander Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk. This decision has been taken amid the ongoing debate over the destruction of one of the country’s valuable new F-16 fighter jets.
According to the BBC report, Zelensky did not give a reason for the dismissal, but in a post on Telegram he said that it is his responsibility to “take care of all our warriors”. On Monday, one of the US-made F-16 fighter jets received from Ukraine’s Western allies earlier this month crashed during a shower of Russian missiles. The pilot died in the incident.

Ukraine claims Russia did not shoot down F-16
However, Ukraine said that the cause of the accident was not a direct result of enemy attack. Along with this, Lieutenant General Oleshchuk debated with some politicians about who was responsible for this loss. In his message sent to Telegram, Zelensky said that he has decided to replace Lieutenant General Oleshchuk, and he said that “at the command level we have to strengthen ourselves and protect our people.” At the same time, the question is also being raised whether the F-16 fighter plane fell due to Russia’s attack.
Ukrainian politician Marianna Bezuhla, who sits on the parliamentary defence committee, claimed on Thursday that the plane was shot down by Ukraine’s Patriot air defence system. Oleshchuk said earlier on Friday that an investigation was underway and no one was hiding anything. He accused Bezuhla of defaming the military leadership and said it was time to apologise. After her dismissal was announced, Ms Bezuhla posted on social media that the truth would prevail.
