Feeling tired despite taking long naps, gaining weight despite barely eating, and being irritable despite constantly checking in with yourself can make you feel like you’re falling apart at the seams. However, more often than not it’s not you – it’s your hormones that are wreaking havoc; But they do not tend to fire in the wrong direction without any reason.

Even if you’re eating clean, moving around a lot, and keeping yourself adequately hydrated, you can’t really fight endocrine disruptors with discipline.
Wellness and PCOS creator Rachel (@getyourglowww) explains endocrine disruptors as chemicals that mess with the body’s hormones by acting like a disruptor, reducing or increasing them depending on the context. And at the cost of ringing alarm bells? Danger is everywhere.
in the kitchen
Start with the basics, plastic and silicone, no matter what, ease is usually a big no-no. So replace your plastic cutting boards and silicone utensils with wooden alternatives; The same applies to plastic containers, cups and straws, which are best switched with glass. Ceramic cookware is as much a win over non-stick coating as a toaster oven is over a ‘nonstick’ air fryer. Next, everything from your dish soap to detergent and even cleaning sprays, ideally, should be fragrance and dye-free – and while you’re at it, ditch the plastic cling film for some beeswax paper, too.
Finally, the most obvious swap? Organic products over non-organic alternatives.
for your clothes
Washing clothes is an important way to keep your system free from endocrine disruptors. Make sure your washing detergent is fragrance-free, like your dryer sheets. Even better, use wool dryer balls with only essential oils.
side note: You don’t have to give up your scented candle passion – just choose soy candles with non-toxic scents.
on your skin
Now the checklist for skin care is pretty self-explanatory, and there’s also a booming online ecosystem in its own right. A general rule of thumb to keep in mind is that your skin products, body and hair care options should be fragrance-free. When it comes to makeup and perfume, look for ‘non-toxic’ labeling.
Will you be joining a cleanup campaign for hormonal health soon?
