Jaipur, Rajasthan Governor Haribau Bagde said on Monday that a strong and value-based education system is necessary for the creation of a powerful and morally honest nation.
The Governor emphasized the rich heritage of India in the field of science and engineering, which stressed the country’s ancient technical excellence, citing the architectural miracles of Ranakpur Temple, Gorakhpur Temple and Ajanta-Elora caves.
Addressing the third convocation of Bikaner Technical University, where he was the chief guest, Bagde said “the role of engineering colleges and technical universities is to produce competent professionals for the country”.
“Bikaner Technical University is making a good contribution in this direction,” he said.
Expressing concern over the increasing problem of drug addiction among the youth, the governor urged students to become responsible citizens and maintain positive values.
“Students should move forward with a sense of responsibility for the nation and strong character. India once led the world in education with universities such as Taxila and Vikramashila. We need to revive that feeling,” Bagde said.
Vasudev Devnani, Speaker of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, who was also present in the event, said in its address that the state has made continuous progress in technical education and now ranks in the leading states in the region.
He encouraged the students to see not only as a degree ceremony, but also as a memory of their duty towards society and country.
Union Law and Justice Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal highlighted the transformational effect of technology from the invention of steam to modern artificial intelligence.
He insisted that no country can develop without technological progress and moral power.
Deputy Chief Minister Premchand Bairwa said on his share that technical education plays an important role not only in personal development but also in social and national development.
He urged the students to focus on innovation, employment and making employment for others.
A total of 4,080 students were awarded degrees at the ceremony and 27 meritorious students received gold medals from the governor.
BTU Vice Chancellor Professor Akhil Ranjan Garg gave the welcome address and presented the annual report of the university.
