Vatican City, 21 June (Reuters) – Pop Leo on Saturday warned politicians that they face challenges faced by the rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI), which addresses its possible impact as a major concern on young people.
Speaking at an event attended by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Parliamentary delegations from 68 countries, Leo again considered a topic that he had raised several occasions during the first few weeks of his sinner.
In an event organized as Roman Catholic Jubilee or Holy Year Part, Leo said, “In particular, it should not be forgotten that artificial intelligence acts as a tool for human good, not to reduce them or even to replace them,” Leo said in a program organized as Roman Catholic Jubilee or Holy Year.
AI supporters say it will speed up scientific and technological progress and help people to perform regular tasks, giving them more time to carry out high-value and creative work.
America -born Pontiff said “there was a need to pay attention to protect healthy, fair and sound lifestyle, especially for the good of younger generations.”
He said that AI’s “stable memory” was not equal to “creative, dynamic” power of human memory in any way.
“Our personal life has a higher value than any algorithm, and social relations require spaces for development that crossed limited patterns that can pre-package to any solid machine,” he said.
Leo, who became the Pope in May, spoke earlier about the danger created by AI for jobs and has called upon journalists to use it responsibly.
