Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched a scathing attack on the Congress party, alleging that the “urban Naxalite ecosystem” that flourished during its rule has taken over institutions and has continuously tried to hide Maoist terror.
“Those who flaunt copies of the Constitution are harboring Maoist terror,” Modi said at the NDTV World Summit, accusing the opposition of adopting double standards. Modi did not take the name of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who is often seen carrying a copy of the Constitution these days.
PM Narendra Modi said that Maoist violence and its supporters have caused serious damage to the country. “Thousands of people have lost their lives because of them – they are doing a huge loss to the country,” the Prime Minister said in his speech.
PM Modi highlighted that his government’s sustained efforts since 2014 have significantly reduced the spread of Naxalite violence across India. “The number of Maoist-affected districts has reduced from 125 to just 11,” he said, crediting security forces and development work in the affected areas.
This comment of PM Modi has come amid the government’s action against Naxalites. Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday declared the Abujhmad hill forest area in North Bastar of Chhattisgarh as Naxal-free after the surrender of 170 Maoists.
The development comes a day after 27 Maoists, including 10 women, surrendered before security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district.
India will no longer remain silent: PM Modi
PM Modi also said that self-reliant India will no longer remain silent. He said, “Now, self-reliant India does not remain silent, it gives a befitting reply through surgical strikes, air strikes and Operation Sindoor. During Covid, when everyone was wondering how this country will save itself, India proved every assumption wrong. We defeated the challenge and became the fastest growing economy.”
Those who pretend to be copies of the Constitution continue to harbor Maoist terror.
The Prime Minister said, “The day is not far when India will be completely free from Naxalism and Maoist violence – this is also Modi’s guarantee.”
Modi further said that many areas once under Naxalite influence will celebrate Diwali for the first time in six to seven decades. He said, “In the last 75 hours alone, 303 Naxalites have surrendered. A huge amount of ammunition has been recovered from those who once showed their .303 rifles.”
