Prime Minister Narendra Modi surprised MPs by stopping by the Parliament canteen for food during the budget session on Friday. Along with the senior politician, eight MLAs from different parties also indulged in a thali of rice, khichdi, paneer, dal, sesame and ragi sweets. NDA politicians termed it a ‘casual cordial meeting’ which covered a wide range of topics from the Prime Minister’s lifestyle to his foreign trips.
“Everyone was surprised and happy at the same time. During his visit to Karachi, PM Modi talked about his daily routine, his exercises, his foreign trips. We got a chance to spend 45 minutes with him. We learned a lot of inspiring things from him. He said he sleeps for 3.5 hours and doesn’t eat after 6 pm,” Union minister and MP L Murugan later told ANI.
The winter session of Parliament ends on Saturday. This is the last session of both the Houses before the Lok Sabha elections – likely in April-May.
The PM later tweeted, “Enjoyed a wonderful lunch, made even better by meeting parliamentary colleagues from across parties and from different parts of India.” He also shared pictures of his meal.
Murugan also said that the Prime Minister has paid the bill.
