Actually, here we are talking about Tata Motors which is taking on Maruti in some car segments these days. Yes, even though Maruti is selling the maximum number of hatchback cars, Tata Motors has left Maruti behind in terms of SUV sales. Tata’s Punch and Nexon SUVs have been consistently performing well for a few months.

Tata Punch is also known for its excellent ride quality.

Punch and Nexon sales increased
Tata Motors launched the facelift model of Nexon in November last year, with this the company introduced Punch in CNG and sunroof. Apart from the new design, the new interior look of Nexon and advanced safety features like ADAS are being liked by the customers. After getting the CNG update in Punch, its mileage has become better. Along with this, both the SUVs have also received 5-star safety rating in Global NCAP, which is the biggest reason for their high sales. The company has positioned both the cars as safe family SUVs in the market, due to which a sharp jump has been seen in their sales since last year.

Let us tell you that among the top-5 best selling cars in January 2024, two cars are from Tata Motors. These cars are Punch and Nexon which have sold 17,978 units and 17,182 units respectively. Last month, Maruti Baleno remained at number-1, while Punch took the second and Nexon at the fourth position.

How is Tata Punch?
Tata is using a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine in the Punch. This engine generates maximum power of 88 bhp and peak torque of 115 Nm. It has the option of 5-speed manual gearbox as well as 5-speed automatic gearbox. Tata Punch offers a certified mileage of 20.09 km in petrol and 26.99 km in CNG. In this SUV, Punch has features like 7-inch touchscreen display, semi-digital instrument panel, auto air conditioning, automatic headlights, connected car technology and cruise control. The price of Punch starts from Rs 6 lakh and goes up to Rs 9.52 lakh (ex-showroom).

Nexon has become better than before
People are liking the facelift version of Nexon very much. The company has given it a completely new front and back design, due to which its look has become more powerful than before. Inside the car, a new 2-spoke steering wheel, new dashboard layout and new interior color are now available.

Both petrol and diesel engine options are available in Tata Nexon. It has the first 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine which generates 120 bhp power and 170 Nm torque. The other one is 1.5-litre diesel engine which gives output of 115 bhp power and 260 Nm torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual, 6-speed AMT and a new 7-speed dual clutch transmission (DCT). The option of 6-speed manual and 6-speed AMT is given with the diesel unit.
