These models will be available in the API for developers by the end of this week. The instant one will appear with the name GPT-5.1-Chat-Latest and the thinking one will appear with the name GPT-5.1. The old GPT-5 will be available only for paid users for 3 months and then will be discontinued, but models like GPT-4O and GPT-4.1 will always be available.
GPT-5.1 Instant will now become the default model for free users. It will respond better than before. Even during its testing, people were surprised at how funny and friendly the model has become. Due to the new adaptive reasoning, if the question is easy, then the answer is given immediately, if it is difficult, then this model gives the answer after thinking a little. The thinking model has become better now. Where earlier the answers contained difficult words, now the meaning will be explained clearly in simple Hindi-English. The more complex the question, the more he will think and will not act hastily.
GPT-5.1 Auto Model
It will automatically decide whether the question requires instant or thinking. You will not need to tell anything about this. ChatGPT’s personalization tool has also been updated. Default mode is better than before. Old listeners and robots will now be called friendly and efficient. Three new presets have also been added to it – Professional i.e. polished and precise, Candide, Quirky i.e. funny and creative style has also been added. Cynical and nerdy are the same old ones. Now you can choose the mood of ChatGPT as per your wish.
