The NTA made this statement while releasing the provisional answer key for CUET-UG and said that if the complaints are found to be valid, it will re-conduct the exam for those with genuine grievances.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Sunday said it will “re-conduct” the Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG) exam if any complaint is found to be genuine. The announcement was made through an official notification issued by the agency while releasing the provisional answer key for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG).
The agency, which is currently embroiled in controversies for irregularities in high-stakes exams like NEET-UG, clarified that it will re-conduct the exam if any complaint raised by candidates on the conduct of the exam is found to be true.
The NTA notification said that for such candidates, the examination will be conducted again between July 15-19 under the Computer Based Test (CBT) mode.
The notification said, “The NTA is resolving the complaints received regarding the examination conducted for CUET-UG 2024, which have been received till June 30. If the complaint is genuine, the NTA is committed to re-conduct the examination for these candidates at selected centres on any day between July 15-19, 2024. Admit cards will be issued to the candidates. All such candidates will appear for the examination in CBT mode only.”
The notification was issued amid demands for re-conducting NEET-UG following allegations of leaks and irregularities in the exam.
CUET-UG is conducted for admission to undergraduate courses in central universities and other colleges in India. Its results have been delayed as the testing agency found itself in a controversy after declaring the NEET-UG results on June 4 – the same day the results of the Lok Sabha elections were announced.
The NEET-UG results were announced about 10 days ago while the CUET-UG results, which were to be out by the end of June, have been delayed. The NTA usually declares the results within a week from the date of publishing the provisional answer key.
It has given candidates time till 5 pm on Tuesday (July 9) to raise any challenges against the provisional answer key.
This year the CUET-UG exam concluded with 1.52 lakh candidates appearing for various exams in the Delhi-NCR region.
The exam for Delhi was originally scheduled for May 15 but was postponed 29 hours before the exam, leading to much confusion among students and parents.
For the first time, CUET-UG was conducted in a hybrid mode, incorporating both traditional pen-and-paper (OMR) methods and computer-based testing (CBT).
