The National Institute of Technology, Rourkela, today organized the 23rd convocation on September 6, 2025. This year, the students of 1948 were awarded the degree.
Brijendra Pratap Singh, Chairman-cum-Management Director of National Aluminum Company Limited (Nalco), was the chief guest.
Out of the total number of degrees given, 1044 students were from B.Tech, from 19 bars, 44 from B.Tech. – M.Tech. Dual degree, 65 (5 years) from integrated master of science, 170 from Master of Science, 25 from Master of Arts, 66 from Master of Business Administration, 422 from Master of Technology and 93 from Doctor of Philosophy.
According to a press statement issued by the institute, another major attraction of this year’s convocation was a graduate of 81 international students from various educational programs. Of these, 63 are men and 18 female students. It includes 20 from Afghanistan, South Africa and Sudan, 20 from Bangladesh, three from Bhutan, 32 from Nepal and four from the United States, 19 NRIs from India (NRI) students.

Umamaheshwar Rao, Director, NIT Rourkela congratulated the students and said, “The position of NIT Rourkela in the NIRF 2025 rankings is an extraordinary leap which is obtained through collective dedication of our faculty, researchers, students and employees. The institute is at the top of the NIT in the ‘Research’ category, which shows its diverse positions and important positions in the national and state land. With more faculty, 320 employees, 35,000 alumni and 7,800 students, the institute has received global recognition. “
