The fourth-generation Maruti Suzuki Dezire shares its powertrain with its hatchback sibling, the fourth-generation Swift, which was launched earlier this year.
The fourth generation Maruti Suzuki Dezire sub-compact sedan has been launched in India at a starting price of Rs. 6.79 lakh (ex-showroom), while the top-end trim of the car is priced at Rs 10.14 lakh (ex-showroom). This starting price of the sedan will be available till December 31 this year.
With this new generation model, Maruti Suzuki aims to increase the appeal of the sub-compact sedan segment in India, which has been witnessing a loss of market share over the past few years due to rising demand for SUVs and crossovers. In this segment, the Dezire competes with rivals like Honda Amaze and Hyundai Aura.
2024 Maruti Suzuki Dezire: Design
The new generation Maruti Suzuki Dezire comes with a significantly updated design, which differentiates it from the third generation sedan. The Dzire has a completely new front profile, with a large front grille that seems to have taken inspiration from the Toyota Innova Crysta. There is a gloss black strip at the upper end of the grille that connects to the sharp and redesigned headlamps that also feature LED units and integrated LED daytime running lights. The front bumper along with the fog lamp housing has also been redesigned.
The side profile doesn’t look much different from the old model but it does get newly designed alloy wheels. Moving towards the rear, the sedan has newly designed LED taillights which come with a sharp look. The rest of the rear profile remains the same as the old model.
2024 Maruti Suzuki Dezire: Features
The interior of the 2024 Maruti Suzuki Dezire comes with a new layout. It features a black and beige theme and a redesigned dashboard layout. Some of the important additions to the feature list include an electric sunroof, a new driver-oriented center console and a touchscreen infotainment system. The touchscreen display has been borrowed from the Maruti Suzuki Baleno premium hatchback. It also gets a new instrument cluster, wireless charger, automatic climate control, rear AC vent and auto-fold ORVM.
2024 Maruti Suzuki Dezire: Safety
The 2024 Maruti Suzuki Dezire has become the first car from the carmaker to achieve a five-star safety rating in the Global NCAP crash test, making it one of the safest cars available in the Indian market. On the safety front, it gets six airbags, a 360-degree HD camera, ABS with EBD, TPMS, EPS with hill hold, etc.

The 2024 Maruti Suzuki Dezire shares its powertrain with the Maruti Suzuki Swift. It gets a 1.2-litre Z12E three-cylinder petrol engine that produces 80 bhp of maximum power and 111.7 Nm of maximum torque. Transmission options of the car include a five-speed manual gearbox and a five-speed AMT. Along with the petrol version, a petrol-CNG bi-fuel powertrain is also on offer.
