Protests against the NEET exam have intensified due to allegations of leaked question papers and biased marking, while a heated political controversy has erupted in Bihar.
The claims made by the accused persons have sparked a confrontation between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is part of the ruling coalition led by the Janata Dal (United), and the opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).

At the centre of the controversy is each political faction’s alleged links with the accused, particularly with Sikandar Yadavendu, who authorities suspect is the mastermind behind the alleged operation.
Four people told the police that the exam paper was leaked 24 hours before the scheduled exam date on May 4. These people include NEET examinee Anurag Yadav, his uncle Sikandar Yadavendu, Nitish Kumar and Amit Anand.

Anurag Yadav said his uncle had given him the leaked paper, which “contained the same questions as the actual exam.”
Meanwhile, Bihar Deputy CM Vijay Sinha alleged, “On May 1, Tejashwi Yadav’s personal secretary Pritam Kumar called guesthouse employee Pradeep Kumar to book a room for Sikandar Kumar Yadavendu… On May 4, Pritam Kumar called Pradeep Kumar again to book a room… the words ‘Minister‘ was used for Tejashwi Yadav.
Targeting Tejashwi Yadav, Sinha said, “Tejashwi Yadav should clarify whether Pritam Kumar is still his personal secretary and he should also clarify who Sikandar Kumar Yadavendu is.”
Sinha said, “When Lalu Prasad Yadav was lodged in Ranchi jail, Sikandar Kumar Yadavendu was serving Lalu.” He further said, “He was a JE in the Irrigation Department.”
“They play with the future of the people. When they are in power, they commit scams and try to influence the appointment process,” Sinha alleged.
Meanwhile, Pradeep Kumar said, “Pritam called me and asked me to book a room for Sikandar Kumar on May 1 and then on May 4. I asked for the requirements, which he said he would provide.”

Meanwhile, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said, “I have also tweeted about this. We want justice. I thank the court for helping all of us because the lives of children, their aspirations and desires are important.”
Earlier in the day, the Supreme Court acted on the NTA’s plea regarding the NEET-UG 2024 exam. The court issued a notice and requested the transfer of petitions related to the NEET-UG exams from various high courts to itself.
Additionally, the Supreme Court has stayed proceedings in the High Courts on the matter.
The Supreme Court has stressed that the counselling process for NEET-UG will continue without any interruption.
Also, the Supreme Court has informed the Centre and NTA regarding the petition filed by students who appeared for the NEET-UG exam in Meghalaya. These students claimed that their 45 minutes were wasted during the exam and requested to be included among the 1563 students who were given grace marks and the option to take the exam again on June 23.
