Navratri 2024: Every year Navratri is celebrated with great pomp and grandeur across the country. Literally translating to nine nights, Navratri is a festival dedicated to the nine forms of Goddess Durga. During this time, devotees observe fast and worship the goddess to seek her blessings. Devotees often observe fast from sunrise to sunset. While fasting has its own health benefits, we should take care that the festival does not put stress on the body and make us fall ill.
In an interview with HT Lifestyle, Akshata Chavan, clinical dietitian, Wockhardt Hospital, Mumbai Central, said, “Fasting during this period helps in purifying the body and developing discipline. Whether you fast for the entire nine days or just a few days, it is important to follow proper fasting rules to remain energetic. Navratri diet mainly consists of sattvik food, prepared with limited ingredients. The purpose of focusing on light, healthy meals is to avoid feeling tired during the fast.
