Mustafabad name change to discuss Delhi Assembly, CAG report on DTC today | Mint

The Delhi Legislative Assembly is set to discuss the naming of the Mustafabad Assembly Constitution on the functioning of Delhi Transport Corporation on Friday on the functioning of Delhi Transport Corporation, as well as the Naming of the Audit Report.

CAG report revealed that Delhi Transport Corporation increased from liabilities 28,263 crore in 2015-16 65,274 crore in 2021-22 14,000 crores during this period.

Mustafabad name change

The Delhi Assembly will also discuss a proposal transferred by BJP MLA and Deputy Speaker Mohan Singh Bisht, “Given the sentiments of the voters of the constituency, to convert the name of Mustafabad Assembly Constituency into Shiv Vihar assembly constituency,” Read Lobe.

Mohan Singh Bisht had earlier announced that he would convert Mustafabad into either “Shiva Puri” or “Shiva Vihar”, when he officially took over.

“I will change the name of that area from Mustafabad to Shiva Puri or Shiv Vihar. I have said this earlier. I fail to understand why political parties are urged to maintain Mustafabad name. Why can there be a region mainly set up by Hindus, Shiv Puri or Shiva Vihar? Annie?

What else is expected in the Delhi Assembly today?

AAP MLA Sanjeev Jha will submit a proposal on “Implementation of free distribution of gas cylinders on special occasions by Delhi Government”.

Earlier, in the day, under the leadership of Delhi Legislative Assembly, BJP MLA Abhay Verma, the committee on privileges, committee on petitions and a resolution passed to settle the long -pending cases referred to questions from the sixth and seventh assemblies to the committee on questions and references.

The proposal submitted by Verma with the permission of the speaker was adopted during the ongoing session of the VIII Vidhan Sabha.

Addressing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Laxmi Nagar, Abhay Verma, highlighted the context of the proposal, “In its meeting held on December 4, 2024, the Seventh Assembly passed three resolutions, which was the committee pending workers on privileges, and committee for committee for committee, and under Rule 183;

Verma further emphasized that many cases were not investigated by the concerned committees or had been unresolved for years without any report. Some cases related to Delhi government officials also went ahead in the Delhi High Court, making their proposal more complicated.

The proposal concluded with a resolution, “Therefore, it resolves the House that the committee on privileges, the committee on petitions, and the sixth and seventh assemblies during the sixth and seventh assemblies, no more action is taken on the matters referred to to the committee on questions and references, and they are considered to be its disposal.”

On March 27, the Delhi Legislative Assembly adopted a resolution to settle eight pending court cases, including the Delhi government officials filed. These cases were previously under review by various committees, such as privileges, questions and references and petitions.
