The incident came to light when Pramila Pawar, mother-in-law of accused Manisha Yadav, lodged a complaint against Yadav after she found out that he had sold her newborn baby for money. On getting information about the money transaction, she went to the police station. She had sold her child in Bengaluru.

Police suspect the sale is part of a child trafficking racket
Police have launched an investigation to track child trafficking networks operating in various states.
