Veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty, who was admitted to a private hospital in Kolkata on Saturday after complaining of severe chest pain, has been discharged. According to the latest update of news agency PTI, Mithun was discharged on Monday afternoon. He also stressed the fact that he is “absolutely fine” and will resume shooting for his upcoming films. Hours after it was reported that the BJP leader’s condition was ‘quite stable’, it has been reported that the actor has now been discharged. The 73-year-old was admitted to a private hospital on February 10 after complaining of severe chest pain. The actor also said, “Actually no problem, I am absolutely fine. I have to control my eating habits. Let’s see; I can start working soon, maybe from tomorrow.”
Mithun revealed that he had received a call from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, and he was “scolded for not taking care of his health”.
Earlier, the hospital had shared in an official statement that Mithun has been diagnosed with ischemic cerebrovascular accident (stroke). The health condition of the veteran actor was reviewed by several senior doctors and physicians. A senior official at the medical facility said he also had to undergo several diagnostic tests, including an MRI.

The official statement had said, “National Award winning actor Shri Mithun Chakraborty (73) was brought to the emergency department of Apollo Multispeciality Hospital, Kolkata at 9.40 am complaining of weakness in the right upper and lower limbs. Necessary laboratory and brain Radiology investigations including MRI were conducted. He has been diagnosed with ischemic cerebrovascular accident (stroke) of the brain. Presently, he is fully conscious, functioning well and taking a soft diet. Mr Chakraborty was further “He is being evaluated by a team of doctors including neuro-physician, cardiologist and gastroenterologist.”
The last update from the medical facility said, “He is recovering well, is fully conscious, healthy, active and has a light diet. He will undergo some tests before being discharged.”
Mithun was recently named as the recipient of the Padma Bhushan award 2024. He joined the BJP party in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the historic Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata on March 7, 2021.
