MG currently offers three all-electric models in the country and is also planning to introduce hybrid models in the future.
JSW MG Motor India on Tuesday announced that it has delivered 100 units of its electric vehicles (EVs) in Delhi-NCR on Dhanteras. The company currently sells three EVs in India – Windsor EV, Comet EV and ZS EV.
MG, a company that established its roots in India in 2019, offers several electric and combustion-engine models. However, in recent times, the focus has been on strengthening the all-electric portfolio, with the entry of hybrid models also promised soon.
However, right now all eyes are on the Windsor EV, which launched in September with a BaaS or Battery-as-a-Service program. The battery-rental program has later been extended to the Comet EV and ZS EV as well. Did it work? In September, MG reported that its EVs accounted for 49 percent of its total sales. The price of the Windsor EV will become clear when October – the first full month of sales of the model – unfolds.
MG Windsor EV: Everything you need to know
The MG Windsor EV becomes the first passenger vehicle in India to get the company’s BaaS option. Under BaaS, the Windsor EV is available at a starting price of Rs. ₹ 10 lakh (ex-showroom) excluding battery rental. 3.5 per km. On the other hand, customers choosing the fixed battery pack option will have to pay a one-time cost going up to 13.50 lakhs Rs 15.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
The MG Windsor EV is loaded on the feature front and has a number of comfort features including reclining rear seat, panoramic glass roof, wireless charging, automatic climate control, nine-speaker Infinity audio system and more. The model also features an 8.8-inch digital instrument console and a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The infotainment screen also serves as controls for the lights, air conditioning and more.
The MG Windsor EV has a single electric motor that produces 134 bhp and 200 Nm of peak torque. The electric crossover has a 38 kWh battery pack that promises a range of 332 km (claimed) on a single charge. This model is equipped with fast charging and can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in just 55 minutes using a 45 kW DC fast charger.
