According to reports, he is the second non-IPS officer to be appointed to this post. In a conversation with AyraNews24x7 Hindi, he told that he joined ITBP as Assistant Commandant in November 1987. After this, he took training at the ITBP Academy in Mussoorie. After completing one year of training, he got his first posting in the India-China border area Ladakh. Then he was given the post of Deputy Commandant. After this, he worked in the posts of Second in Command, Commandant of Battalion Command, DIG (Deputy Inspector General), SDIG and IG (Inspector General).
Sanjeev was originally from Jammu and Kashmir, but during migration he moved to Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh. In Gwalior, he obtained a bachelor’s and master’s degree in economics from Jiwaji University.
The promotion of the officer from Inspector General to ADG was announced through a directive issued by the Home Ministry for the panel year 2024. Along with him, another officer IG Jaspal Singh was also nominated for promotion. At present, Sanjeev is posted in the central sector of ITBP in Bhopal. He will take over his new post in the Western Command headquartered in Chandigarh.
According to more information, the officer was given the responsibility of laying the foundation of the Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare School (CIJWS), which he carried out with full sincerity. In this school, training is given to those officers who are to be posted in the Naxal-affected area. Officers of various forces across the country are also trained here. It is located in Mahidanda, Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand. For admission here, the age of the soldiers should be 35 years and the age of the officers should be 40 years.
