Earlier in the day, state Chief Minister N. Biren Singh resigned Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at Raj Bhawan in Imphal.

He resigned a few hours after returning from Delhi. On Saturday, Singh called a meeting with the ruling coalition MLAs led by the BJP at the CM Secretariat in connection with the upcoming assembly session from 10 February.
