The All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) will organize its annual martyrdom day rally in Kolkata on July 21, in which the party’s supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expected to hit the BJP in the alleged harassment of the Bengali-stagnant migrant employees.
Millions of TMC supporters from across the state have already come to the city for the rally. Apart from Banerjee, TMC National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee will be the keynote speaker at the rally.
In a 1993 police firing, the program organized every year for the murder of 13 Youth Congress workers has developed in the party’s biggest political event. This year’s rally is important as it is being seen as a launchpad for the TMC campaign for the 2026 West Bengal assembly elections.
Banerjee is likely to accelerate his Bengali proud pitch, alleging linguistic outline profiling in the name of national security and “criminalization of poverty”.
Meanwhile, the BJP had dismissed the allegations as a political posture, convicting the TMC government for chaos on migrant workers and documenting of infiltration.
As the political temperature rises, all will be eyeing Banerjee’s speech, which is expected to set tone for the TMC campaign for the 2026 state elections.
