New Delhi: Malayalam actor Mohan Raj died on Thursday 3 October. He breathed his last at his home. It is being told that he was ill for some time. His last rites will be performed in Kerala on Friday 4th October. Mohan Raj had made his mark as a villain in the Malayalam film industry.
Mohan Raj played the role of villain in the 1989 film ‘Keeridham’. Before this he was an officer in the Central Government. The screen name of his character in the film was Keerikadan Jose, which gave him recognition in the Malayalam film industry. Later he came to be known by this name. Mohanlal was the lead actor in this film.
Worked in more than 300 films
After the tremendous success of the film ‘Keeridam’, the popularity of Raj aka Jose also started skyrocketing and he acted in more than 300 films. His voice and facial expressions helped Mohan Raj take the role of a villain in South Indian films to a new level. A few years ago, he got injured in his leg during a stunt scene in a Telugu film, after which he could not recover completely.
Mohan Raj was last seen in ‘Rorschach’
Malayalam actor Mohan Raj was last seen in Mammootty’s film ‘Rorschach’ released in the year 2022, after which his health deteriorated and he stayed at home. Mohan Raj also got a lot of love from the audience for his work. Apart from ‘Kiridam’, Mohan Raj gave memorable performances in films like ‘Mimics Parade’ (1991), ‘Uppukandam Brothers’ (1993), ‘Hitler’ (1996) and ‘Mayavi’ (2007). Mohan Raj remained active in the industry for three decades. Malayalam film fraternity and fans are mourning the demise of the actor.
