Maharashtra ranks first in foreign direct investment (FDI) in India (PTI/File)
Shinde stressed that Maharashtra will play an important role in realising the dream of ‘developed India’.
In his address after hoisting the national flag here, Shinde said Maharashtra’s contribution would be huge in realising the dream of a developed India.
He said that state policies should be formulated accordingly.
In his last Independence Day speech as the state’s chief minister this term, Shinde said, “Maharashtra’s development ranking has declined compared to other states. Bringing the state’s economy back on track was a challenge and the state government has done it effectively.” Assembly elections are likely to be held in October or November this year.
“Whether it is about building confidence among investors, industrialists or the common man, we have demonstrated it effectively,” he said.
“Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) worth Rs 5 lakh crore have been signed in the last two years, which will result in creation of 2.5 lakh jobs…Maharashtra ranks first in terms of foreign direct investment (FDI) in India,” the chief minister said.
He said that the state government has brought about fundamental changes in the fields of agriculture, education, power generation, health and infrastructure.
According to him, the Maharashtra Logistics Policy aims to generate revenue of Rs 30,000 crore.
Shinde said that the process of depositing the first installment of ‘Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Behan Yojana’ has started. Under this scheme, eligible women will be given financial assistance of Rs 1,500 per month.
He said many people have received Rs 3,000 as installment for the months of July and August. He said, “This scheme will bring fundamental changes in the lives of people.” Shinde said infrastructure work worth Rs 10 lakh crore is underway in the state, some of which are game changers.
He said that the last phase of the Samriddhi Expressway connecting Nagpur to Mumbai will be opened to the public.
He said that in the last two years, 70,000 people have received help worth Rs 300 crore through the Chief Minister’s Health Cell.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Governor C P Radhakrishnan along with Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar hoisted the tricolour at the Council Hall in Pune.
On this occasion, the police band played the national anthem and the state song. Local MPs, MLAs, public representatives, senior administrative and police officers, citizens and children were present.
