At the Toronto International Film Festival, Selena Gomez revealed an interesting presentation she created for her character Mabel Mora in her film Only Murders in the Building.
Selena Gomez revealed an interesting pitch she made for her character Mabel Mora in Hulu’s popular series Only Murders in the Building during an interview at the Variety Studio presented by J.Crew and Shark Ninja at the Toronto International Film Festival. Gomez revealed that she had suggested making her character the killer in the show’s next season. “I did propose it,” Gomez admitted during an interview with Variety. “I don’t think it will come to fruition, but who knows? You never know,” he added.
This year has been a significant one for Gomez, as she received her first Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her role as Mabel. Her performance has been widely praised.
In addition to discussing her role in Only Murders in the Building , Gomez also chatted with her co-stars in the musical film, Emilia Pérez — including Carla Sofia Gascón, Zoe Saldana, Édgar Ramírez and Adriana Paz — and talked about the film’s critical acclaim and Oscar buzz.
Directed by Jacques Audiard, the film won her a joint Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival.
Meanwhile, Gomez, who stars in Only Murders in the Building, also serves as executive producer, becoming the most nominated Latina producer in the category’s history.
She is only the third Latina to be nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series, after Salma Hayek and Marlies Pujol. Celia D. Costas is the only Latina to have won the award in the top series category for her work on Angels in America in 2004.
The fourth season of Only Murders in the Building premiered on Hulu on August 27. In India, it is available to stream on Disney+ Hotstar.
