Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Trinamool Congress on Tuesday released its list of 40-star campaigners for Phase-1 of Lok Sabha Elections 2024. The names of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, party national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee and former cricketer are mentioned in the list. and candidate Yusuf Pathan among others.
The party requested the Election Commission to consider the first list as the list for the remaining phases if the party fails to submit any follow-up list of star campaigners for the other phases within the stipulated time limit.
“If we do not submit any follow-up list of star campaigners for other phases within the stipulated time frame, please refer the immediate list for the remaining phases also,” TMC said.
Earlier on March 10, party general secretary Abhishek Banerjee had announced the names of 42 candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Giving the message of TMC going alone in the Lok Sabha elections, TMC General Secretary surprised the rivals by taking the names of former cricketer Yusuf Pathan from Berhampur and Kirti Azad from Bardhaman Durgapur Lok Sabha constituency.
Abhishek Banerjee will contest elections from Diamond Harbor.
TMC has retained Mahua Moitra, who was expelled from the Lok Sabha in the winter session last year. Moitra will contest from Krishnanagar constituency.
TMC has also fielded Mukut Mani Adhikari, who recently left BJP, as its candidate from Ranaghat Lok Sabha seat. The party has fielded Jagdish C Basunia from Cooch Behar, Prakash Chik Badaik from Alipurduar, Nirmal Chaudhary Roy from Jalpaiguri and Gopal Lama from Darjeeling.

Voting will take place in Bengal to elect 42 Lok Sabha members in all seven phases of the general election which will begin on April 19 and end on June 1. The counting of votes has been scheduled for June 4.
