The conduct of state level half-yearly examinations turned into a major controversy for the Rajasthan Education Department, with multiple errors in the question papers causing frustration and confusion among students. Exams for classes 9 to 12 were held simultaneously at the state level on Saturday, but a key mistake raised concerns about the integrity of the exam process.
The incident came to light during the Class 12 examination on the subject “Golden India after Independence”, surprising both students and teachers. When the exam paper was given to the students, they were surprised to see that 32 out of 33 questions were directly asked. Copied from previous year exam.
In short, almost the entire question paper was a repeat of the previous year’s material, with only one new question. Students who prepared diligently using previous year question papers cracked the exam easily and answered all the familiar questions promptly. Previous year Udaipur and Hanumangarh district exam questions were reused verbatim in the current year paper.

However, this was not the only issue. On Monday, December 16, Class 9 students faced different challenges. English medium students were given Hindi language question paper, due to which many students got disappointed. Despite being registered for English-medium education, these students were not provided translated English versions of the exams. When students expressed their concerns, they were asked to take the exam using the Hindi version of the paper.
In response, principals of several schools lodged formal complaints with higher education authorities, highlighting the difficulty English medium students faced in answering questions in a language they were not comfortable with. Some students were eventually allowed to translate the questions into English and continue with the exam, but this situation left many students frustrated.
Widespread errors in both the content and language of the exam sparked heated debate about the competence of the Department of Education in managing such an important event.
