The Ministry of External Affairs said on Friday that they know about former IPL boss Lalit Modi’s acquisition of Vanuatu’s citizenship and the application to surrender their India passport at India’s High Commission in London.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said that according to the ministry law, all cases against him are going on to carry forward.
“It is revealed that Mr. Lalit Modi has made an application for surrender to his passport in the High Commission of India in London. A ministry spokesman said that the same investigation will be done in the light of extinct rules and procedures.

About Lalit Modi
Lalit Modi, who previously served as the Vice President of the Control Board for Cricket in India (BCCI), is accused of violating bidding, money laundering and Forex Management Act, 1999 (FEMA).
He left India during an investigation into financial misconduct in 2010, including unauthorized fund transfer.
