From sharing live updates of the moon with her husband, actor Sanjay Kapoor, to wearing ethnic attire, Maheep Kapoor shares her favorite parts about Karva Chauth
For jewelery designer and former model Maheep Kapoor, celebrating Karwa Chauth is all about the “small things that matter”. “Sanjay follows a rule that he doesn’t shoot around this time. And while he and I don’t have any personal rituals, he always arrives on time on Karwa Chauth, usually being the first husband to reach the venue, and I feel impressed by that,” the 42-year-old shared. Said that the day is a reminder of “how important we are to each other.”

When it comes to her attire for the occasion, Maheep loves to go all out. “I love dressing up for Karva Chauth, it is very special. On this day everyone’s makeup comes out – jewellery, vermillion, bangles, bindis. I just need an excuse to get dressed. This year, I am going to buy sarees because I love sarees and I find them very beautiful,” says Maheep, who has been married to Sanjay for almost 27 years.
Her favorite part of the festival? She reveals that the joyful gathering of family and friends: “I love it when we all dress up wearing our puja thalis. Over the years, it has become the day when all of us ladies get together, even if we haven’t met all year. Meanwhile, Sanjay keeps checking his phone to keep track of when the moon will rise.

Sharing an unforgettable memory of the festival, Maheep recalls her early marriage days. “Sanjay and I went to London during the festival, and I spent the whole day shopping and gifting myself. At night we had to go out for dinner and we took a black taxi. We walked all over the city of London trying to find the moon,” she recalls. “Unfortunately, it was very cloudy, and the driver was disappointed with our adventure. We told him we wanted to find the moon, and he thought we were crazy. Sanjay also thought that we should forget about finding Moon in London as it was already available in India. But I said- No, I will not eat it without seeing it. Eventually, we saw the moon, I broke my fast, and later, we went for dinner,” she hints.
