Allegations targeting Kanye West’s alleged discrimination against Black employees are spreading again as another former employee took the stand Friday in a new lawsuit in Los Angeles.
Benjamin DeShon Provo, who previously worked as a security guard at the embattled rapper’s private school, Donda Academy, in August 2021 has accused Ye of “often yelling at” her and firing her for her POC identity. In the complaint obtained by Page Six, West’s former employee claims she suffered “severe emotional distress” after she was fired for wearing her dreadlocks.
“Kanye and members of his management team treated Provo and other black employees less favorably than their white counterparts,” the lawsuit alleges.
Kanye West lawsuit investigated
Provo’s lawsuit asserts that Kanye “in particular” “often yelled at and berated black employees.” On the contrary, he “never raised his voice so high towards white employees.”

Additionally, allegations against West reveal that he allegedly ridiculed Provo for his dreadlocks, which he later refused to cut.
Provo’s complaint is based on Kanye’s ongoing legal battle after earlier this month, he was accused of “severe discrimination, harassment” by another Donda Academy employee.
Provo’s April 26 complaint states that he began working for the rapper in August 2021 before dedicating six months to Donda Academy. Once the school changed locations, Provo was “assigned additional work due to staff shortages.” In addition to providing security services for Ye’s Sunday Services, he also worked at the Yeezy warehouse.
The plaintiff’s legal complaint states that Yeh and his management team caused Provo to “choose between important aspects of his self-identity and financial stability” over growing his hair as part of the practice of his Muslim faith. This points to his preference for keeping it scary. The former guard was reportedly unfairly dismissed for refusing orders to cut his dreadlocks.
Provo’s lawsuit even claims that Yeh asked her to dispose of books related to prominent figures in the black community like Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X and others. Donda’s former employee claimed that Kanye “regularly expresses negative beliefs” in association with such black leaders.
These alleged allegations of racism are in line with former Donda Academy teacher Cecilia Haley’s April 2023 lawsuit against Yeh. Then, the Vultures rapper was also accused of banning black history books. Haley’s 2023 lawsuit also outlines the grounds for wrongful termination at the hands of Ye. The power rapper is expected to appear at his trial date in April 2025.
