In 2009, when Kalki Kochlin played a student in Dev D from Chanda, Chanda, there was some captivating and refreshing to see a character that refuses to be ashamed to present the society. Kalki Kochlin on feeling pressure to repeat himself
Kalki, who recently played the role of a lawyer in the Tamil film Nasipaya, is a surprising answer when I ask her what kind of roles she is watching in this stage of her career. “I don’t know how to answer because I have no work yet (laughing),” she says openly. After a beat, she reflects, “I think I am not doing anything because I want to wait for important roles … quality roles. And they are not coming.”
The actor says that most of the characters recently introduced to them are ‘broken’ women, who are becoming repeated. “There is a lot of pressure on me to do the same thing, especially … a broken family, broken wife or broken girl. A lot of those proposals have been done. And a lot of guests have also been done. And any of them is not exciting for me at this time. So I am patient and looking for other ways to spend my creative time,” she says.
Working in web series brother – Gaurav Tiwari Mystery
However, Kalki has an Amazon MX player mini series called Bhai – Gaurav Tiwari Mystery in soon to be released. This is a project that she accepts that she is excited. “I finished doing a show called Bhai, directed by Robbie Grewal and Arshad Syed. It’s a scary … but it is actually a paranormal thriller. It’s not your specific horror,” she says.

The actor also revealed that the most attractive part of the series is that it is based on a real person and events, “it is based on a real person, Gaurav Tiwari, who was running this thing, called the Indian Paranormal Society. His death was under suspicious circumstances. It is a very attractive story, and it would be a new kind for a new kind.
Karan Tacker, Danish Sood, and Saloni Batra also act in the web series, which is not yet a release date.
