Counting of votes for the 2025 Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union elections is nearing the end. The contest between Left and ABVP remains tough, with Left leading on all seats.
Aditi Mishra from the Left alliance is the frontrunner for the post of president in the 2025 JNU Students Union elections. The Left alliance is campaigning to maintain an “inclusive, accessible and democratic JNU”, while the ABVP focuses on “protests and nationalism”.
This year, the voting percentage was recorded at 67%, which is slightly lower than last year when the voting percentage was 70%.
In the last election, ABVP had made a significant comeback after a decade by winning the joint secretary post on the Central Panel. However, this year’s trends show that it is difficult to break the Left’s stronghold in JNU.
