National Testing Agency (NTA) in an official notification informed that 01 case of impersonation and 09 cases of unfair means (UFM) were detected during the conduct of JEE (Main) 2024 Session-2 examination across the country.
“The National Testing Agency has deployed AI tool, iFace, to ensure the identity of the candidates by cross-verifying the photo on the admit card with the live photograph of the candidate taken at the examination centre, mandatory frisking, eKYC etc.” NTA.
NTA also informed that a detailed plan was made for the smooth conduct of the examination. Control rooms set up for strict monitoring and surveillance, live feeds from cameras installed in each examination room/laboratory are being closely monitored by virtual observers who generate real time alerts.
A large group of officials have been deployed by the agency to provide biometric, frisking, CCTV and jammer services. Apart from the officials and their own invigilators, virtual invigilators and flying squads are also involved for the smooth conduct of the examination.
“Even, if a candidate goes for bio-break/toilet, he/she will have to undergo mandatory frisking and biometrics again. Therefore, candidates are again advised not to move during the examination and not to indulge in conversation/ peeping or assisting others during the examination. “Such an act may lead to cancellation of candidature and debarment of the candidate from appearing for the examination in the current year and in future, and invites initiation of criminal proceedings/strict action against the wrongdoer,” NTA said. informed.
Candidates were also informed that NTA conducts post-examination analysis of the responses of the treated group with regard to examination-related cheating behavior by observational data, interesting statistical approaches, etc.
NTA said that non-intrusive techniques can be used to identify collaboration, with question-attempt logs also being analyzed to identify suspicious similarities between submitted responses. Warning the candidates not to resort to unfair means, NTA said that the examination logs, behavior of the candidates and CCTV recordings of such candidates are also being scrutinised.
