In a major development in space cooperation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday announced that India and Japan Chandrayan would get hands to launch their fifth mission Chandrayan 5 for the Moon.
PM Modi announced during his speech in Tokyo, saying that ISRO and Japanese space agency Jaxa Chandrayaan would cooperate for the launch.
PM Narendra Modi said at the 15th India-Japan Annual Summit, “For cooperation in Chandrayaan 5 Mission, we welcome the agreement between ISRO and Jaxa. Our active cooperation will cross the earth’s borders and become a symbol of the progress of humanity in space.”
“I am glad that India and Japan are joining the hands for the Chandrayaan series or the next version of the Lupex (Lunar Polar Exploration) mission,” he said today in an interview with Yomuri Shimbuna today.
During the interview, PM Modi highlighted that the influence of space science is associated with agriculture, disaster management, communication and progress in our daily life.
He said, “I am confident that our scientific teams are working together to carry forward the boundaries of space science. And, our partnership in space will not only expand the horizon on us, but will also improve the life around us,” he said.
PM Modi in Japan
Speaking at the 15th India-Japan annual summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that he and the Japanese PM Shigeru Ishiba had set a target of investment of 10 trillion yen in the next 10 years.
After a conversation with his Japanese counterpart, PM Modi said, “We have set a target of 10 trillion yen investment from Japan in the next 10 years.”
Calling India’s joint credit mechanism a ‘major win’, he said, “It shows that our green partnership is strong as our economic partnership. In this direction, we are also starting the initiative of permanent fuel and battery supply chain partnership.”
He also announced to initiate economic security cooperation initiative.
“Under this, we will move forward in important and strategic fields with a comprehensive approach.”
Cooperation in the higher technology sector is a priority for both India and Japan, PM Modi said in his address.
“In this regard, Digital Partnership 2.0 and AI Cooperation initiative is being taken. Semiconductors and rare earth minerals will be at the top of our agenda,” he said.
PM Modi said, “We believe that Japanese technology and Indian talent are a winning combination. Where we are working on high-speed rail, we will make rapid progress in areas such as ports, aviation and ship-making under the next generation mobility partnership.”
