IndiGo on Friday issued a detailed public apology to passengers, confirming the all-day cancellation of all domestic departures from Delhi Airport (DEL) from December 5, 2025, amid massive operational disruptions across the country.
What did Indigo say?
In an official statement, IndiGo said, “We deeply apologize and understand how difficult the last few days have been for many of you. While this will not be resolved overnight, we assure you that we will do everything in our power to support you in the meantime and get our operations back to normal as soon as possible.”
The statement further said, today should be the day with the highest number of ticket cancellations, as we are doing all that is necessary for progressive improvement.
IndiGo said, “We will offer a full discount on all cancellation/rescheduling requests of your booking for travel between 05 December 2025 to 15 December 2025. Thousands of hotel rooms and surface transport have been arranged across cities for the convenience of our customers.”
It added, “Our AL assistant 6Eskai can assist with flight status, refunds and re-booking.”
IndiGo said it has significantly expanded its contact center capacity to reduce wait times, adding, “We want you to know that you will see incremental progress. We will do everything we can to earn back your trust… We cannot lose it at any cost.”
Meanwhile, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has appealed to the Airline Pilots Association of India (ALPA India) and pilots for cooperation amid the current disruptions.
“In light of the ongoing disruptions to air travel caused by M/s IndiGo, where many flights have been affected across the country due to operational disruptions, unpredictable weather patterns and increased seasonal demand, the aviation sector is facing significant stress,” DGCA said.
It said more than 500 IndiGo flights were delayed or canceled on Friday, causing inconvenience across the country.
“As we approach the fog season, peak holiday period and wedding travel season, it is important that the industry prepares for even greater operational challenges,” the regulator said, urging full cooperation from pilot bodies to ensure stable operations and minimize further delays.
IndiGo on Friday canceled all its domestic flights departing from Delhi airport till midnight as the airline grappled with significant operational disruptions.
Meanwhile, according to sources, IndiGo has canceled all flights departing from Chennai airport till 6 pm on Friday.
“IndiGo domestic flights scheduled to depart from Delhi Airport on 5th December 2025 have been canceled till midnight today (23:59 hrs),” Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) said in a post on Twitter.
