Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday said that the party will demolish the wall which is pushing for a caste census across the country and restricting up to 50 percent reservation for Scheduled Castes (SCS), Schedule Tribes (STS) and other backward classes (OBCs).
“In Telangana, 90 percent of the population includes OBC, extremely backward class, Dalit, extremely marginalized, minority, and tribal. But if you look at the corporate sector of Telangana, check the list of owners, CEOs and senior management, you will not find one of this 90 percent population section,”
Gandhi said, “It has no 90 percent participation in the corporate sector of Telangana … I am happy that soon after the caste census, our Chief Minister and our team in Telangana increased OBC reservation by 42 percent.”
Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul said that he had asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to census caste in Parliament.
He said, “I wanted to know who had part in this country and whether this country really respects tribal, Dalit and backward communities.”
Gandhi said that PM Modi and the ideal patron of the Rashtra Vidhan Janata Party (BJP) refused to census caste census, as they do not want to reveal that part to minorities in this country.
“I told him that we would pass the caste census law in front of you,” he said.
Ahmedabad in Gujarat will also host the 84th National Convention of Theall India Congress Committee (AICC) on 8-9 April. This is the first time in 64 years when the event is being held in Gujarat – a state that the party has not won in 30 years.
“We will break the wall of 50 percent reservation. What Telangana has done, we are going to do across the country,” he said.
“Waqf Act is an attack on freedom of religion”
Gandhi also said that the new Waqf Act is an attack on freedom of religion and is anti -constitution. Citing an article in an RSS-Linked magazine, Gandhi alleged that the BJP and the RSS have now set their places on the rights of Christians, and the Sikhs will be ahead.
Gandhi also said that the District Congress Committees and their heads will be strengthened and strengthened so that they act as the foundation of the organization that moves forward.
Gandhi alleged that the RSS ideology is against the constitution and “they want to control all institutions in the country”. He told the leaders of the party that the fight is for the constitution and it is not easy.
Gandhi said, “They have everything in their disposal, but we have the truth and love of people towards us.”
