The opposition raised an issue of Maharashtra in the Parliament, in which it talked about loans. It said, banks do not give loan to the entire village if 2-3 people default. Sitharaman said, banks do not do this, if it happens then strict action will be taken.
New Delhi. Do you know that if your neighbor takes a loan and does not return the money to the bank and defaults, then the bank can refuse to give you a loan too. At least this is what one issue raised in the Parliament suggests. When the opposition raised this issue in the Parliament, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also had to respond to it. If such a case comes up with you, then to whom and where can you complain about it?
Actually, Indian National Congress Solapur (Maharashtra) MP Praniti Sushilkumar Shinde raised a matter in the Parliament. In this, she said, ‘Many villages are adopted by national banks. But if 2-3 defaulters in the same village, then the whole village has to pay the price for it. Banks refuse to give loans to the rest of the people of the village, which also includes farmers and youth. If we complain to the DM, he says that it is not in my control. It is in the control of RBI. In such a situation, people of many villages are not able to get Mudra loan. So will anything be done about this?

What did Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman say
On the opposition’s question, the Finance Minister put forward the banks’ side. She said, this matter does not fit in the way banks work. But, if this is happening in any area, then I will take it very seriously. This is not the way in which Mudra loans are distributed. Banks cannot do this. I cannot say for sure that this happens. Even if this is happening, then full information will be taken on this and a solution to the problem will be seen.
What do banking experts say
Banking experts have also denied such a case. Voice of Banking General Secretary Ashwani Rana says that banks do not practice such a thing. If such a case has come to light, it could be on an individual level. Generally, banks do not do this. SBI Meerut branch manager Vikas also says the same. He said that no such case has come to my notice at the moment and loan distribution is decided according to the personal status of each person. Everyone cannot be punished for one person’s mistake.
Where to complain about banks
If a bank refuses to give you a loan without any valid reason and does not resolve the complaints within a month, then a complaint can be made to the RBI Ombudsman. The Reserve Bank has provided the facility of online complaint to the common man. You have to go to the portal. After providing the information sought here, you can enter the details of your complaint. RBI takes free and strict action on this and your complaint will also be resolved soon.
