Nainital/Tanuj Pandey: India is the second largest tea producing country in the world. Here, maximum tea is produced in Assam and West Bengal. Due to favorable environment, tea is also being produced in the hilly areas of North India. If we talk about Uttarakhand, tea production is increasing rapidly even in the hilly areas.
A very beautiful tea garden is situated in Shyamkhet Tea Garden, about 17 km from Nainital in Uttarakhand. Here, along with tea, you can also enjoy the natural beauty. Being surrounded by beautiful mountains on all sides, there is a huge crowd of tourists throughout the year to see the beautiful views here.
The soil here is suitable for tea
Tea garden employee Alka told during a special conversation with Local 18 that the tea garden in Shyamkhet was started in 1995. In this garden spread over 40 acres, tea plants were first brought from Darjeeling and planted. Since then tea is being cultivated continuously here. Apart from this, tea is also being grown in Ramgarh, Ninglat and Garampani of Nainital. He told that tea production is done in sloping fields in cold areas. Due to this, water does not accumulate in the roots of the plants. Alka told that the pH of the soil here is also suitable for tea cultivation.
Tea is made from tender buds
Tea is produced from the tender buds of the tea plant. For this, the moisture of the leaves is reduced by plucking them. Then they are dried by rolling and forming through the machine. After this, tea leaves are prepared by grading.
