News agency PTI said that Maharashtra Health Department has issued notice to a private hospital in Pune district in a private hospital, when a couple died after liver transplant surgery, the news agency PTI reported.

Deputy Director of Health Services, Dr. Nagnath Yampale said on Sunday that Sahadehari Hospital was directed to submit all the details related to the transplant process by Monday.
He said, “We have issued a notice to the hospital and sought details of the lines of the recipient and donor, their video recording and treatment. The hospital has been asked to submit all the details by 10 am on Monday,” he said.
The patient, known as Bapu Komkar, and his wife Kamini, underwent surgery in the hospital on 15 August. The man’s health deteriorated after the transplant surgery, and he died on 17 August.
Kamini developed an infection on August 21 and died during treatment.
After the deaths, his family members accused of medical negligence and demanded an inquiry into the matter.
The hospital said the surgery was conducted according to the standard medical protocol.
“We are fully collaborating in the investigation. We are committed to providing all the necessary information and support to ensure a thorough review of the matter,” the hospital said in a statement.
It further said that the patient (Bapu Komkar) was a high -risk person with many complications.
The hospital states that we are deeply sympathetic with the Komkar family at this time of immense loss. A living donor liver transplant is one of the most complex processes, and in this case, the patient with many complications was a high -risk person. ,
The hospital further stated that the family and donor were already fully consulted about surgical risks. “Surgery was performed after the standard medical protocol. Unfortunately, the recipient developed a cardiogenic blow after the transplant and cannot be revived despite all efforts.”
On Kamini Komkar’s health, the hospital stated that it was initially well cured, but later developed septic shock and multi-organ dysfunction, which could not be controlled even with advanced treatment. “We are committed to providing the highest standards of care and increase their full support to the bereaved family during this tragic time,” said this.
