A bus broke down on Bengaluru’s Outer Ring Road (ORR) this morning, causing massive traffic jam. Social media is filled with videos and images showing large lines of vehicles on ORR, waiting for the road to be cleared.
At 4:43 pm, Bengaluru Traffic Police issued an advisory on social media, saying, “Traffic is moving at slow speed due to vehicle breakdown near Eco Space Junction towards Marathahalli, Kadubisanahalli, Devarabisanahalli, Bellandur.”
Social media has been flooded with photos of Orr, while netizens criticized the Karnataka government for turning road infrastructure into India’s Silicon Valley.
An X handle going by the name Civic Opposition of India said, “A @BMTC_BENGALURU bus broke down and traffic came to a standstill on the entire Outer Ring Road. Bengaluru gives you reasons to hate life every day! This is not acceptable!” Tagging Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, who is also the minister in-charge of Bengaluru.

What does DKS say on Bengaluru traffic?
DK Shivakumar on October 8 gave the example of London and Delhi and said that traffic jam is a global and national challenge. He stressed that the traffic issue is gaining momentum in Bengaluru due to the vibrancy of the state’s traditional and social media.
“Even in London, if people don’t take public transport they have to travel for three hours. Even in Delhi, it will take 1.5 hours to reach Parliament from the airport, but Bengaluru is noisier than Mumbai, Chennai and Hyderabad,” said the veteran Congressman. PTIHe further said, “Because we are very free to all friends, and our social media is growing. Then there is artificial intelligence and social media. We are not curbing. But as far as Tamil Nadu is concerned, as far as Andhra is concerned and as far as other states are concerned, the media is not allowed to work freely because Karnataka is open to them. We accept criticism.”
Prominent citizens created an uproar
Several prominent residents of the city, including industry stalwarts like former Infosys CFO Mohandas Pai and Biocon chairperson Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, have urged the government to intervene immediately. Public outcry over the condition of the roads intensified after online trucking platform Blackbuck decided to shift its office from Bellandur on the ORR, citing commuting and infrastructure issues.
