Hansal Mehta on new talent
Mehta, who spoke about the subject in a post recently on X, said in the 2000s, there were studios like UTVs who promoted new people. According to Mehta, applause is doing something similar by supporting people like entertainment, Gandhi, Zahan Kapoor and Gagan Dev Riyal and by making a success out of it. “We are at a divine point where there is a lot of talent, but they are not getting a chance. This pipeline is closed in the name of security.
“This is the proof of the concept that it can do this work. The big people you keep on giving chances, how many times they have failed? What is their success percentage? When they fail, they really dip you.
Pratik Gandhi says that the new talent is shrinking the pool
Pratik Gandhi, a Gujarati theater and film artist who broke on a large scale with Mehta’s scam series and urged manufacturers and directors to be more open to work with new ones.
“Be open to work with new talent. It is shrinking everywhere (place for new people) and you are only working with a certain set of people. When you talk to people, everyone says, ‘Not good actors? There are so many actors who are waiting (for their opportunity). This difference can only be filled by directors and producers,” said the actor.
Gandhi is also part of Mehta’s ambitious series on Mahatma Gandhi. He said that he has developed an understanding in five years that he has worked together on projects. His film Gamasan with filmmaker Tigmanshu Dhulia was premiered on the festival on Friday.
The festival, which was opened with South Korean film A Normal Family on Thursday, hosted sessions with film celebrities such as Vikramaditya Motwene, Nandita Das, Abhishek Chaubey and Honey Trehan.
