Getting driving license will be easy, now test will be done at private centers also

New Delhi. The central government has made important changes in the process of getting a driving license. From next month i.e. from June 1, 2024, you will be able to give the driving test at the Regional Transport Offices (RTO) as well as at your nearest private center or driving school. These centers will be given permission to take driving test and issue driving certificate. Due to this change, it will become easier to get a driving license.

At present, the process of getting a driving license is quite long. It also requires a lot of paperwork. Many forms have to be filled and many offices have to be visited. Due to the long and complicated process, corruption spreads in the license RTO office. This affects the road safety of the entire country. Therefore, to overcome these shortcomings, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has announced major changes in the existing driving rules in India.

Terms and conditions for private centers
The driving school should have at least 1 acre of land for two-wheeler training and 2 acres of land for four-wheeler training. There should be proper arrangements for giving driving tests in the school itself. The trainer giving driving training in the school should be at least a high school pass and should have 5 years of driving experience.

Less paperwork will have to be done
Now less paperwork will be required to get a license. The applicant will have to provide only those necessary documents which will be told according to the type of license. The Transport Department will tell the applicant in advance which documents he has to provide.

How to apply online
The application process for driving license will remain the same. Application for getting a license can be made online and offline. Applicants can submit their application online by visiting the official website of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. However, one can also go to the concerned RTO to submit the application.

Fine of Rs 25,000 for minor driving
There has also been a provision to impose heavy fine for driving without license or at high speed. At present the fine for this is between 1 to 2 thousand rupees. At the same time, if a minor is caught driving, action will be taken against the parents and a fine of Rs 25,000 will be levied. The vehicle registration may also be canceled and the minor will become ineligible for a license until the age of 25.
