Ambala: Traditional arts are left behind with the changing times, but a woman from Ambala is trying to bring Kathak dance to the people again. The presentation of the classical Kathak dance at the annual dance program held at the BPS Planetarium campus in Ambala Cantonment captivated everyone. The event was organized under the banner of ‘Culture Center for Creative Arts’, whose founder and guide is Shabnam Nath.
Shabnam Nath started this institution in 2004 with only four girl students. Today this institution is training more than 80 students. Many students under his leadership are running their dance academies in the country and abroad. Shabnam, who has done Kathak Honors from Punjab University, presented Kathak himself on stage despite social interruptions and succeeded in changing the thinking of the people.
The chief guest at the program, Chitra Sarwara said that with the austerity of Shabnam Nath and the support of the family, Kathak has got a respectable place in Ambala today. The ‘Culture Center’ has now become a symbol of cultural consciousness, not just a dance institute, where doctors, professors, housewives and senior citizens are undergoing training. The institution is recognized by the ancient art center and quality training is being given here with selfless service spirit.
The aim of Shabnam Nath is to become self -sufficient and join the Indian cultural heritage.
