Rahul Rai is one such candidate who had the courage to leave his engineering studies midway to pursue his passion. He left IIT Bombay in 2015 to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Wharton School in the US. Rahul started working at Morgan Stanley in 2019 after graduation. He became a foreign exchange (FX) macro hedge fund analyst there. However, he resigned from his post in 2020, took a new resolution and decided to move back to India. At the time Rahul returned, the use of cryptocurrencies was growing in popularity in India. He became more interested in blockchain technology and digital assets. He saw the potential in this field and did a lot of research on it.
In January 2021, Gamma Point Capital was founded. Rahul, his friends Ish Aggarwal and Sanat Rao co-founded Gamma Point Capital. This cryptocurrency hedge fund aims to invest in digital assets. As a result of Rahul’s foresight the business instantly became famous and gained an important position in the cryptocurrency sector.
Major players in the cryptocurrency sector took note of Gamma Point Capital’s achievement. Blocktower Capital paid Rs 286 crore (US$35 million) to acquire the business in May 2021. Rahul and his group believed that by choosing this option, they would achieve financial success that would be equivalent to years of hard work. Rahul Rai currently serves as Co-Head of Market-Neutral at Blocktower Capital. The company runs a multi-strategy hedge fund that invests in blockchain technology and cryptocurrency assets.
