With the beginning of the tourism season, the activity of fake guides has also increased in the city. In such a situation, at Tallital, Mall Road, Mallital Flats, Cheena Baba Square and other places of Nainital, fake guides are misleading tourists and taking huge commission by booking hotels. Guides are licensed by the Municipality in Nainital. Some guides are the hotel’s own employees, who are paid a monthly honorarium by the hotel. Apart from these, the number of fake guides is increasing in the city.
Thousands of tourists are arriving in Nainital every day. In such a situation, the pressure of vehicles is also quite high in the city. Due to this, there is also a traffic jam in Nainital city. At the same time, fake guides are misleading tourists at various points from Tallital Danth to Mall Road as well as at Mallital rickshaw stand and other places.
Action will be taken against fake guides
Municipal Council’s EO II Pooja Chandra told during a special conversation with Local 18 that information in this regard has been received from the office. Last year, the process of issuing licenses to guides was conducted smoothly by the municipality. In future, only those guides who are already licensed will be renewed. Apart from this, no other guides will be given licenses. He said that licensed guides will be identified and action will be taken against fake guides.
