Vienna The Governing body of the United Nations Atomic Monitoring Association found on Thursday that Iran was not following its nuclear obligations for the first time in 20 years. The move may increase tension due to this and the process of re -implementing the United Nations sanctions on Iran at the end of this year can be initiated.
Member countries of the IAEA’s governing body voted on the proposal regarding Iran. On the condition of anonymity, the diplomats said that 19 member countries of the International Nuclear Energy Agency (IAEA) governing body voted in favor of the proposal in a meeting in Vienna. Russia, China and Burkina Faso opposed it while 11 members did not vote.
Speaking to Iranian government television after the voting, a spokesman for Iran’s nuclear power organization said that his agency had immediately informed the IAEA whether Tehran would take “special and effective” action. Spokesperson Behroz Kamalvandi said, “One job is to build a third safe site for promotion.” He did not explain the location in detail.
This voting has been held in such a sensitive time when tension in the area is continuously increasing. Meanwhile, the US Foreign Ministry announced on Wednesday that it was cutting the presence of non-essential personnel for operations in the Middle East. The American nation Donald Trump has previously said that the US or Israel can target Iran’s nuclear centers if negotiations fail.
Negotiations are going on between the US and Iran about Tehran’s fast moving nuclear program. Meanwhile, Oman’s Foreign Minister said on Thursday that the sixth round of these talks will be held in Oman on Sunday. The draft proposal directly mentions the US-Iran negotiations, emphasizing the ‘diplomatic solution support for problems arising from the Iranian nuclear program’. It also includes the ongoing conversation between the United States and Iran, aimed at an agreement that resolves all international concerns related to Iran’s nuclear activities.
